The Annual Review for 2019-2020 is now available, summarising the work funded across 31 core projects and Covid-19 emergency projects supported by TDT. 

This joint development project between TDT/EU Can Aid, Marumba village and African Palms, near the Mozambique border in Mtwara region, has already so far delivered 2 new classrooms with solar panels, a borehole, dispensary support with solar power and fridge, tree planting and bee keeping projects.

Thanks to the generosity of BTS members and other friends of Tanzania we have so far sent over £12,000 to 27 different hospitals and health centres across Tanzania, to enable them to buy locally made reusable masks, gowns and aprons for their front line health workers.

The transition to secondary school is difficult for any child, but particularly in Tanzania, when they suddenly need to start learning in English. This year, we are supporting schemes in 8 schools who have been teaching over 700 students for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week since the end of September, thanks to a grant from the Eddie Byers Fund matched by an anonymous donor.

TDT funds a number of school projects throughout Tanzania, including Ikimba Schools in Kagera Region. Recent projects include resources for a science laboratory at Izimbya School and building a new girls' hostel at Tunamkumbuka Secondary School. We also support the transition to English-speaking secondary schooling through a project jointly funded with the Eddie Byers Fund and donations from Ruth and Ralph Isaacs.

Kinyika village has a plan of having piped water from Mkwese village, a nearby village which has a huge source of water. The project costs about Tsh.25,000,000 with Tsh. 16,000,000 funded from TDT, Tsh.8,000,000 through local contributions and Tsh. 1,000,0000 from the local District council.

Ann and Julian Marcus' safari in January and February 2017 takes in one of TDT’s recent ‘flagship’ projects – a series of investments working with charity partner Eucanaid in and around the village of Marumba – as well as revisiting one of TDT’s first-ever projects.
